“…[Lambert’s] output shows excellent workmanship, an original imagination, and a somewhat satirical sense of humor…”
musicwebinternational.com, 11 June 2024 – William Kreindler
“…the stylistic characteristics of the music never really sound like anyone else, and Lambert certainly has his own ‘voice’…”
Fanfare Magazine (issue 47:6 July/Aug 2024) – William Kempster
“…[Lambert] belongs to the honorable but now too often overlooked class of the craftsman…”
Fanfare Magazine (issue 48:1 Sept/Oct 2024) – James A. Altena
“..Lambert’s sometimes adventurous but always gracious music is attractive for choirs. The music contains much interest, while enabling the text to have its due….The whole [choral CD – TOCC 0713] is, for me, a welcome ear-opener to Lambert’s soundworld.”
Organists’ Review (June 2024) – David Dewar
“…[Lambert’s] music has a directness of appeal and immediate accessibility whether for celebratory occasions or for liturgical use by church musicians. He has a very pleasant stylistic language, and [Music for Brass and Organ. TOCC 0718] exploits well the splendour of the Chester Cathedral organ…”
Cathedral Music Magazine (Autumn 2024) – Bret Johnson

music for organ and brass
“…excellent performances of some fine music…What stands out is Lambert’s mellifluous writing for [brass] ensemble. The performances and the recording are first-rate.”

choral music: sacred and secular
…”music that would feel gratifying in the voice to sing, coming from years of working with voices and understanding what they enjoy doing and how they work together.”
Record Review, Dec. 30, 2023 (BBC Radio 3) with Yshani Perinpanayagam and Kate Molleson.
“All of the works on this album (TOCC 0713) are finely crafted and beautifully written for the choral (as well as chamber-instrumental) forces deployed….All of the performances heard on this recording are outstanding. The choral singing is exemplary, and the small instrumental contributions also very fine. The audio quality is first-rate throughout…this is an outstanding release.”
Fanfare Magazine (issue 47:6 July/Aug 2024) – William Kempster
“This release features twelve works given their world recording premiers…The collection presents a good overview of the composer’s style. Lambert has an engaging, accessible style. His music can be challenging, but it’s always playable and listenable…”
