This short piece for solo viola is a transcription made in 2026 of Praia Mar for cor anglais (op.25).  Originally composed in October 2000 in Carcavelos near Lisbon, Portugal, it was written overnight for an al fresco premiere the next day outside the royal palace at Sintra.

Constructed as a quasi-rondo, (A B A1 C B1 coda), this moto perpetuo, tonal piece has a lilting swing, with jazz-flavoured syncopation, exploiting the whole range of the instrument.
